Head of Payroll - Maidenhead
£65,000 - £80,000 (depending on experience) + 25 days holiday + pension
2-3 days per week office based, and working from home the rest of the week
Our client is an inspirational, forward-thinking and innovative IT business, who are proud of their achievements to date and take immense pride in their work. With around 8,000 employees across the UK & Ireland, and the retiring of the current Head of Payroll, they are seeking a highly professional, personable and engaging Head of Payroll to take over the reins and oversee the current payroll team of 8 staff, reporting into the Shared Service Centre Head of HR.
The successful Head of Payroll will be based in their Maidenhead Head Office (Shared Service Centre) and will have full end-to-end responsibility for the payroll team and function across both their Maidenhead and London offices, whilst also assisting with a new system implementation.
Responsibilities:
1. Managing one Payroll Team Leader and 7 payroll staff.
2. Taking direct responsibility for running the entire payroll function, including checking, amendments, and approvals for the staff on the monthly payroll.
3. Responsible for the long-term Payroll strategy and hands-on assistance with the new payroll system implementation.
4. Producing various post payroll reports from the payroll system.
5. Working closely with the Shared Service Centre HR Manager, Recruitment Teams, Finance and non-Finance Managers, and Heads of Department.
6. Assisting in monthly salary budgeting and forecasting.
7. Reporting and liaising with HMRC, including all monthly and year-end returns ensuring compliance.
8. Conducting regular audits of payroll processes.
9. Ensuring any over-payments, loans, and attachment of earnings are recovered.
10. Taking responsibility for annual benefits renewals, sourcing and negotiating with benefits providers, and maintaining vendor relationships.
Qualifications:
* Hands-on experience ideally from a Shared Service Centre environment, managing multiple payrolls, and previous/recent man-management experience.
* Show innovation, drive, and enthusiasm, with a personal touch.
* Ability to lead by example with an exceptional track record of delivery.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Efficient and professional approach with the ability to multi-task.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Team player; collaborative in style, actively seeking partnership with others to achieve shared results.
