Connect It are a growing multi utility company and to help support our success we are looking to expand our Technical Team by recruiting a Technical Manager. This role will support the business by being responsible for a portfolio of multi-utility infrastructure projects.
Ideally, you will have at least 5 years utility industry experience, overseeing projects from the point of contract award to the commencement of construction. You will be actively engaging with stakeholders and clients, whilst having the drive to deliver a project within timescales and providing technical support to our construction colleagues. With a clear understanding of legislative, commercial and policy changes, you will have the ability to seek new opportunities whilst educating and implementing process and support for industry change and development.

Key skills:
1. Oversee a portfolio of Gas, Water, Electric and EVC projects, driving projects from award to construction.
2. Be a strong communicator and primary point of contact for our clients and construction colleagues to talk about ideas, requirements, specifications and understand how Connect It will best support them and their projects.
3. Work closely alongside our engineers and design team to ensure that designs are produced in a timely manner and as required to meet our clients' specifications.
4. Strive to support design engineers and use expertise to sign off design methodologies.
5. Be effective and efficient with handover of projects to construction colleagues to enable autonomous delivery.
6. Engage with utility companies and stakeholders to seek permissions for connections, engineering difficulties and other collaborative activities.
7. Liaise with electricity, gas, water networks to ensure processes are being followed and documentation is satisfactorily completed, ensuring best practice is incorporated within Connect It's procedures.
8. Familiar with utility legal processes with foundation understanding of the incorporated rights process to enable confident conversations with our clients to drive forward legal completions.
9. Provide support and advice to the estimating and design team for complex schemes.
10. Take ownership of site and design changes by communicating with commercial colleagues around the increase in costs or change of scope.
11. Have a strong understanding of NERs, WIRs and GIRs and the limits that we work to within, supporting the business with policy changes and scope extensions.
12. Accurately identify business risks to ensure that procedures, systems, and designs can be delivered safely and to specification.
13. Provide support to our Commercial and Business Development teams when responding to tenders and other business opportunities, giving confident support, construction guidance and effective solutions.
14. Create system processes, flows to drive automation and efficiency within existing Connect It systems.
15. Support both internal and external audits, ensuring compliance.
Qualifications and experience:
1. 5 years utility industry experience.
2. IEng or CEng registration with relevant professional institution or actively working towards this.
3. A familiarity with CDM requirements.
4. A strong communicator, who possesses good organisational and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with people at all levels and coach others.
5. Manage own workload and time effectively and proficient use of Microsoft applications and other company systems to record and analyse data.
Additional:
1. BEng or Meng related degree.
2. Experience or education in use of AutoCAD for viewing drawings.
3. Experience of regulatory change and implementation.
