About the School: This specialist SEN school caters to pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including ASD, PMLD, sensory processing disorders, SEMH, and communication difficulties. The Teaching Assistant team works alongside experienced teachers and therapists to deliver individualised learning and care. Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant: Provide classroom support as a Teaching Assistant for pupils with complex needs across both primary and secondary age groups. Work 1:1 and in small groups to assist with engagement, communication, and daily learning activities. Support sensory-based interventions and assist pupils with emotional regulation strategies. Adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs of pupils in the SEN school setting. Work collaboratively as a Teaching Assistant with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure each child's needs are met. Provide personal care support where necessary, ensuring dignity and respect for all pupils. Requirements for the Teaching Assistant: A passion for supporting children with special educational needs. Experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with SEN pupils in any capacity (desirable but not essential). A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to working with children with complex needs. Willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary Teaching Assistant team in an SEN school. Commitment to a long-term Teaching Assistant role in a specialist setting.
