Job Overview
• Assess for and fit off-the-shelf braces and thermoplastic splints for patients at the West Cornwall Hospital and the wider Cornish health community.
• Develop specialist skills under the guidance of Clinical Lead.
• Provide clinical cross cover within your team as delegated by your Clinical Lead.
• Attend clinical level discussions/meetings relating to your area of work as delegated by your Clinical Lead.
• Contribute to the service through innovation and audit as required.
• Develop a high level of product knowledge and provide advice to other health care professionals.
• Provide formal and informal training to colleagues as required.
Main Duties of the Job
Thermoplastic splinting and orthopaedic bracing musculoskeletal Occupational Therapy mainly from GP referrals.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
* HCPC registered.
Experience
* Comprehensive experience of working in an acute hospital setting including some musculoskeletal/orthopaedic experience.
* Experience of assessing for, and fitting prefabricated supports and/or moulding bespoke splints and braces.
Practical and Intellectual Skills (Including Any Special Knowledge)
* A good understanding of MSK clinical anatomy and physiology.
* Well-developed communication skills - empathy, negotiation, and motivation, presenting complex facts in an understandable way, reassurance, and support particularly to anxious people.
