Abercorn Sinclair is partnering with MiAlgae to create a groundbreaking opportunity for an experienced Automation and Control Engineer. This role will be based at their HQ in Edinburgh, the heart of Scotland's vibrant tech industry.

MiAlgae is a pioneering biotech company that harnesses science and technology to drive sustainability. Founded in 2016, they aim to replace wild-caught fish as a source of omega-3 by cultivating microalgae. Their innovative zero-waste solution recycles co-products from food production, returning clean water in the process.
Job Summary:
We seek a skilled Automation and Control Engineer to join our team and contribute to designing and configuring processes systems to improve work proficiency. You will collaborate with Process Engineers, Production Operators, and contractors to develop automation systems, ensuring seamless scaling-up of MiAlgae's process.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop technical automation projects using available frameworks to meet project goals within set timelines and budgets.
* Select suitable software and protocols to implement for process scale-up.
* Oversee contractors in defining and building controls architecture and OT network for new systems.
* Identify and recommend automated testing processes and tools.
* Publish control system documentation and lead on Functional Design Specification documents (FDS) as required.
* Highlight any design stage gaps and take corrective action.
* Work with partners and the wider team to deliver the overall project.
* Support knowledge for test equipment and preventative maintenance plans to maintain factory capacity and efficient product flow.
Requirements:
* Knowledge of control panel design, installation, and testing.
* Experience configuring control systems essential in two or more programming languages.
* Troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions to resolve.
* Hands-on approach to process control systems and driving continuous improvements.
* Demonstrable experience in defining and developing test automation strategies and/or approaches for multiple projects.
* Ability to prioritize personal workload to achieve deadlines.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Proficient in working with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Projects.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with others and work independently.
* Desirable: experience with lab scale-up, process development, and optimization.
About the Role:
