JOB DESCRIPTION – DOMCILIARY CARE WORKER
Summary of the Role
The key purpose of the role is to provide high quality person centred care for people with disabilities, elderly people and various conditions within the comfort of their own home.
Provide excellent care within the domiciliary care setting, enabling individuals to be able to live in their own home as independently as possible, whilst respecting their preferences and choices.
Assist individuals with their daily needs and aspirations.
To be flexible and responsive to change.
The role involves working flexibly over 7 days
Visiting multiple homes to provide domiciliary care.
Responsibilities
Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, whilst maintaining their dignity and respect at all times.
Support service users with mobility safely, including the use of hoist, sara steady, walking aids or assisting with transfers.
To use Personal Protective Equipment at all times during care and notifying the Management Team before it runs out of stock.
Administer or assist with medication according to care plans.
Prepare and serve meals, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.
Perform light household duties, such as cleaning, laundry, and tidying.
Provide companionship and emotional support to service users.
Escort service users to appointments or social activities as needed.
Monitor and report changes in clients’ health or behaviour to the appropriate personnel.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of care provided, and complying with care plans and company’s policies and procedures.
Encourage and support clients to maintain their independence in daily activities, fostering self-confidence and dignity.
Assist service users in decision- making about their care and daily routines, respecting their preferences and choices.
Ensure the safety and well-being of clients by adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
Identify and report any signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, following the appropriate channels.
Keep good records of service user’s care, communicate effectively with service users and families, and share information as appropriate whilst maintaining confidentiality and data protection
