Junior Algorithms Engineer Reading - Hybrid Thales is a world leader in the design and manufacture of products for the worldwide defence, aerospace and security markets. Our Reading OME team design and manufacture a diverse range of Electro-Optical products including Thermal Imagers, Laser Rangefinders & Designators, Vehicle Sighting Systems and Submarine Periscopes & Optronics Masts., Image processing is a key component of our camera systems and with the emergence of enabling technologies that can realise more complex imaging processing techniques (such as those enabled by artificial intelligence), we are looking to add these key differentiators to our products. Algorithms engineering is seen as a key capability for our business and is well positioned to provide opportunity for career growth. As an Algorithms Engineer, you will be involved in all aspects of algorithms engineering, including: Development of image processing algorithms for different applications Deployment of solutions on different processing platforms Assisting in the build and development of proof of concept hardware Supporting trials of sensors and algorithm systems You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of sensor products that encompass thermal imaging, visual imaging and laser systems. You will be expected to support multiple projects and as such will require planning and organising skills. This is a development-based opportunity, we are ideally looking for a motivated individual with an ambition to deep-dive into Algorithms development for their long term career. Skills, qualifications and experience You will have Bachelor Degree, Masters Degree or PhD ideally within Mathematics, Physics or related subjects. You will be competent in at least one programming language (e.g Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink) and understand the basics of configuration and version management using tools such as Git. Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience in some of the following: Familiarity with image processing techniques including; but not limited to; image enhancement, feature detection, tracking, classification and fusion Knowledge of computational physics methods GPU programming with CUDA Experience with embedding algorithms / software in computers Experience in working with spatial coordinates in complex geometries Knowledge of deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and application of AI to real world problems Statistics and digital signal processing techniques Security Clearance statement Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions.
