Strategic Buyer – Maidenhead - Up to £50,000, 10% Bonus, Car Allowance and Private Healthcare Melbreck Technical are working with a leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose electro-mechanical and electronic equipment based near Maidenhead. Due to a planned expansion, and succession planning for the next two to three years, they are actively looking for a Buyer to join the organisation as soon as possible. Strategic Buyer – Job Role: To ensure the effective procurement of materials, components, major work packages and services for the Business To manage end to end supply of parts for nominated commodities, ensuring that the relevant commodity strategy is deployed. Ensure effective supplier management. To ensure competitive sourcing for all products and/or services with the objective of delivering year on year savings. Identify and highlight any areas for cost savings across the function through process improvements or otherwise. Strategic Buyer – Role Responsibilities: Manage the end-to-end supply chain relationship with a specified group of vendors so as to ensure the best possible quality, cost, delivery and overall supplier reliability. Negotiate and issue purchase orders directed by purchase requisition from planner or MRP action message and in accordance with planned inventory strategies. Review MRP requirements to ensure component deliveries are scheduled in line with production requirements; reviewing and issuing purchase orders and making necessary changes to requirements, schedule and price. Analyse and process supplier notifications. Manage the communication of and expedition of all engineering changes and schedule changes. Be the data owner for all supply master data. Monitor the delivery status of scheduled receipts to ensure on time delivery to need. Strategic Buyer – Candidate Requirements: 3 to 5 years of experience working in a supply chain organisation. Previous experience as a buyer within a manufacturing / engineering company is an advantage. Level 4 or Level 5 NVQ or a degree in business, operations, supply chain, or related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer skills, being proficient in Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc). Proficient people skills. Experience of influencing and/or negotiating. Experience of supplier relationship management. Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, organizational and time-management skills. Exposure of working in a manufacturing environment desirable. Ability to work to financial and time-sensitive constraints Experienced in working within MRP environments.
