Play an essential role in improving highways to save lives and encourage greater sustainable travel. The post of Traffic Engineering Programme Manager gives you an opportunity to do just that. You will manage projects with the aim of significantly reducing the number of serious and fatally injured people and providing greater infrastructure for walking and cycling enhancing quality of life and reducing our carbon footprint.
About The Team & Role
You will form part of the Traffic and Active Travel team responsible for managing a programme of engineering projects through their life cycle. Ensuing successful delivery that offers value for money, safe and sustainable solutions, and achieves targets set. Ensuring that health and safety regulations are applied to all projects including the CDM Regulations 2015.
The Traffic Engineering Programme Manager will be responsible for managing a team of project managers and ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures. Working closely with inhouse and external designers and stakeholders to deliver projects to provide outcomes that achieve project and council objectives. You will be responsible for programme, risk, and budget management. You will ensure the delivery of the programme within time and budget and play a key role in working with colleagues to bid for funding.

About You
As the Traffic Engineering Programme Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a programme of projects able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, using your prior experience in highway and traffic engineering design and project management. You will have experience working in collaboration with all key stakeholders, contractors, building and nurturing relationships to ensure seamless communication. Your ability to lead, motivate, and supervising members of staff at all levels has resulted in high-performing teams and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Importantly, you will have a keen interest in and a commitment to road safety and sustainability and understand sustainable travel principles and the impact of engineering on environmental issues. Your track record of experience of bidding for project funding will contribute to ensuring that our highways meet the evolving needs of our community while fostering a sustainable and forward-thinking approach.
