Job Description
Employee Relations Specialist (FTC) required to take ownership of promoting positive workplace relationships, fostering open communication between employees and management, and addressing employee issues and concerns. This role involves managing employee relations cases, conducting investigations, mediating disputes, ensuring compliance with company policies, and supporting a positive organizational culture.
What you’ll do:
We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our People team on a fixed-term contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex employee relations cases within a highly technical, professional environment. This role requires someone who can effectively manage performance and conduct matters while understanding the unique dynamics of working with highly skilled technical and professional employees.
Due to the nature of the role, regular office attendance will be required.
Day to day responsibilities:
* Lead and manage complex employee relations cases, particularly focusing on performance management, disciplinary, and grievance matters
* Coach and support line managers through formal and informal performance management processes, with a specific focus on managing technical specialists and subject matter experts
* Provide expert ER advice and guidance to ensure compliance with UK employment law and company policies
* Partner with managers to develop and implement performance improvement plans that consider the nuanced needs of specialist employees
* Maintain accurate case management records and documentation
* Identify trends and patterns in ER cases and propose solutions to address root causes
* Conduct investigations when required
* Support the development and delivery of manager training sessions on ER topics
* Work collaboratively with the wider People team to ensure a consistent approach to ER matters
Required Experience and Skills:
* Solid experience in Employee Relations within the UK
* Proven track record of managing complex performance management cases
* Experience working with technical specialists, subject matter experts, and professionals in knowledge-intensive environments
* Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practices
* CIPD qualified (Level 7 preferred)
* Excellent coaching and influencing skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
* Proven ability to work autonomously and manage multiple cases simultaneously
* US experience would be advantageous but not essential
Essential Requirements:
* Available for immediate start
* Previous experience in managing ER cases within professional services, consulting, technology, or similar environments where technical expertise is highly valued
* Demonstrated ability to make an immediate impact
* Strong stakeholder management skills
* Excellent documentation and report-writing skills
* Ability to adapt communication style to engage effectively with technical specialists and subject matter experts
* Experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships in professional environments
* Understanding of performance management approaches suitable for specialist roles and technical professionals
