About the Role:
Are you an experienced Electrical Designer with a passion for innovative energy solutions? We are looking for someone to join our Electrical Department on a permanent basis. Based in our Hessle office, you’ll be part of a multi-disciplined engineering team, reporting directly to our Lead Electrical Engineer and taking on exciting projects in an evolving and dynamic sector.
As an Electrical Designer, you will play a vital role in producing a variety of electrical deliverables, ensuring that each project meets the highest standards and exceeds client expectations. You'll collaborate closely with our clients, contractors, and installation teams, making sure that every detail of the electrical design is meticulously executed.
What You’ll Be Doing:
In this role, you’ll get the chance to flex your technical expertise while making a real impact on cutting-edge projects. Some of your core responsibilities will include:
* Leading Design & Documentation – Prepare high-quality electrical engineering documents, including AutoCAD drawings, electrical calculations, technical reports, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
* Collaborating Across Disciplines – Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure inter-discipline compatibility, driving project success.
* Client Engagement – Liaise directly with clients and contractors, both on-site and off-site, to ensure electrical design work is perfectly aligned with project requirements and client needs.
* Workload & Time Management – Plan your tasks effectively, ensuring deliverables are met on time, within budget, and in line with HSEQ systems.
* Site Surveys – Conduct site surveys, both independently and with client supervision, to gather critical data for the project design.
* Continuous Improvement – Actively seek out ways to improve both your own work processes and the company’s systems, sharing your insights with the wider team.
* Professional Development – Stay ahead of the curve by keeping up to date with technical advancements, design standards, and legislative changes relevant to the electrical engineering field.
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking an innovative and self-motivated Electrical Designer with a strong track record in the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or chemical sectors. If you possess the following skills and experience, we’d love to hear from you:
* Qualifications:
* HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
* CompEx EX12 certification is desirable.
* Membership to a recognized professional body (e.g., Institute of Engineering & Technology), or plans to join.
* Continued Professional Development (CPD) engagement.
* Preparedness to gain certifications like Vantage Card, BOSIET, and MIST for offshore work.
* Experience:
* 3+ years of experience in Electrical Design within Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or chemical industries, ideally across all stages of a project (Concept, FEED, Detailed Design).
* Deep knowledge of BS7671: Latest Edition and ATEX compliance standards (BS EN 60079).
* Familiarity with solar PV, renewable energy, and battery storage systems design.
* Experience using tools like Trimble (Amtech) and AutoCAD for design calculations and drafting.
* Skills:
* Strong working knowledge of electrical cabling and equipment.
* Ability to estimate time for tasks and manage workload effectively.
* Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
* Commercial awareness and the ability to manage design changes and understand their impact on cost and timeline.
* Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
