Rehabilitation Assistant
Hours: 20-25 per week
Payrate: £13-£14 per hour
Due to nature of role only drivers and female candidates will be successful
The client is a 24 year old man who suffers the effects of an acquired brain injury.
The client requires support in order to access vocational and recreational activities.
The client is highly independently minded but requires social enabling and rehabilitation support.
The role involves working in close collaboration with the Case Manager, therapists within the client's Multi-Disciplinary Team, the client, and his family.
The post requires excellent communication skills. The post will be suitable for an individual with significant experience of working with clients who are brain injury survivors.
Job Description
The Rehabilitation Assistant role involves:
* Supporting the client's integration into the community.
* Providing the client with support enabling him to access a range of social, recreational, and sporting activities.
* Solving day to day problems in partnership with the client, his family members, and members of the professional team.
* Ensuring documentation is completed daily and sent to ECMS at an agreed timeframe.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
* Ensure compliance with all allocated mandatory training, completed to a satisfactory standard within the allocated timeframe.
* Ensure compliance and attendance of regular supervision reviews.
* Assisting the client to attend all appointments.
* Using own transport to support the client to and from appointment and activities.
* Adhering to the client support plan to meet need.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
* Ability to absorb complex information and training provided by the Case Manager and therapists.
* To demonstrate accurate implementation of instruction and guidelines.
* Effective teamwork skills.
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
* Sensitivity and discretion necessary to working within a client's own home.
* Behaving within the good practice guidelines and standards of consent outlines in 'The Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support workers in England'.
* Working with brain injured clients who also have mental health needs and challenging behaviours.
* The ability to assess and determine client's mood and presentation before engagement in driving client to activities.
* Accurately record and report back to the MDT any episodes of delusional disorder.
Key Outcomes
* To become part of an efficient multi-disciplinary team.
* Achievement of planned goals for the client.
Requirements:
* Right to work in the UK (unfortunately at this time we cannot support with sponsorship)
* Must be a driver and willing to drive the clients
* A minimum of 6-months UK based health or social care experience is essential
* Compassionate and patient nature with excellent communication skills
* Enthusiastic and outgoing personality to connect with the client and create a positive atmosphere
* Attend mandatory trainings in Leeds, West Yorkshire when required.
* Note: All successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
