Brief Description
Join Network Rail's Asset Protection Business, and act as Network Rail's site representative to review and evaluate the construction-related risks to the operational railway. Monitor and assure that site risk mitigation is proportionate to the risk imposed on the operational network by the construction activities undertaken by third parties.
Key Accountabilities
1. Monitor site activities for compliance with relevant rules, regulations, and standards.
2. Review contractor's method statements and site-specific risk assessments.
3. Ensure arrangements for access and worksites are in place for efficient completion of work.
4. Conduct regular inspections to monitor the quality of contractor's work.
5. Inspect completed works and survey for readiness for inspection.
6. Ensure first-off examples of work are inspected early.
7. Manage contractor's site works through regular meetings.
8. Monitor progress of works through site visits and inspections.
9. Maintain a regular site presence and monitor work standards.
10. Encourage HSQE awareness among contractors' staff.
11. Assess the competence of contractors' staff.
12. Check compliance with accident/incident reporting policies.
13. Agree site records and claims with contractors for payment.
14. Provide support to Development Managers and Project Managers as directed.
Essential Requirements
* Relevant successful construction experience in the railway industry.
* Environmental awareness.
* Good communication skills.
* Commercial awareness.
* Ability to manage a principal contractor and their subcontractors.
* CSCS/CITB scheme/Nebosh certificate.
Desirable Requirements
* Safety management awareness/training.
* Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
