This role will be hybrid, requiring flexibility to regular travel to our client sites in the Southwest of England, and occasionally one of our offices in either London, Sheffield, or Bristol.
What You'll Be Doing as a Senior DevOps Engineer:
* Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows that support a scalable, secure, and agile deployment environment.
* Oversee container orchestration and infrastructure management on Kubernetes platforms such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), or Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE), ensuring seamless integration across development, pre-production, and production environments.
* Embed DevSecOps practices into the development lifecycle, ensuring security, compliance, and performance are integrated into automated deployment pipelines.
* Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, ensuring automated, repeatable, and scalable cloud infrastructure provisioning.
* Monitor system performance, automate scaling, and optimize cloud resource utilization to ensure high availability and operational efficiency.
Your Impact:
* Enable rapid, reliable, and secure deployments that accelerate time-to-market for new services.
* Ensure high operational efficiency and system resilience through effective automation and proactive monitoring.
* Drive continuous improvement in infrastructure processes, reducing manual effort and increasing reliability in cloud-native environments.
* Improve security posture by integrating DevSecOps best practices into cloud and infrastructure automation.
Requirements
You Will Demonstrate:
* Strong experience in designing, building, and managing CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows in cloud-native environments.
* Expertise in container orchestration using Kubernetes platforms such as AKS, EKS, GKE, or OKE.
* Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
* Deep understanding of DevSecOps principles, security automation, and compliance-driven infrastructure management.
* Experience working in Agile and cross-functional teams, collaborating with architects, engineers, and security specialists.
* Proficiency in scripting and automation using Bash, Python, or similar languages.
You may also have some of the desirable skills and experience:
* Experience with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD automation, and GitOps methodologies (e.g., ArgoCD).
* In-depth knowledge of industry-leading open-source tools (e.g. the Apache stack) that foster a flexible, innovative, and vendor lock-in free environment.
* Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, and Logstash.
* Strong networking knowledge, including Kubernetes networking policies, service mesh (e.g., Istio), and cloud networking.
* Relevant certifications in cloud computing, Kubernetes, or DevOps (e.g., CKAD, CKA, AWS/Azure/GCP DevOps certifications).
Security Clearance:
UKSV (United Kingdom Security Vetting) DV (Developed Vetting) clearance is required for this role, either already held or with a willingness to undergo the process. As part of the onboarding process candidates will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS); details of the evidence required to apply may be found on the government website GOV.UK – Government baseline personnel security standard. If you are unable to meet this and any associated criteria, then your employment may be delayed, or rejected. Details of this will be discussed with you at interview.
