Control System Engineer - Marine, Essex, £55,000 - £65,000 Circa Benefits Unknown Resourcing are hiring a Control System Engineer - Marine for our leading R&D Engineering client in Essex. This is an exciting Control System Engineer permanent role to join a growing successful team position to contribute to the advancement of future technology reporting to the Chief Electrical Engineer. Control System Engineer - Marine Responsibilities: Control System/Instrumentation Design: Responsible for designing, developing, and documenting electrical control / Instrumentation systems for marine applications, ensuring compliance with industry/Class, relevant standards and best practices. Familiarity with ATEX equipment practices essential. Previous PLC experience is required, preferentially Siemens Simatic. Some Control Panel design and build experience would also be advantageous. Component Selection: Evaluate and select suitable electrical components and materials to meet performance, safety, and cost objectives. Collaborate with suppliers to source reliable and high-quality components. Marine Expertise: Apply knowledge of marine environments to design robust and durable systems, suitable for harsh conditions. Ensure designs comply with marine regulations and classification society requirements. Field / Install/Commissioning: Actively participate in the installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of control/instrument systems in the field, both domestically and internationally. Ensure successful system integration and operation in real-world conditions. Supplier Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to facilitate efficient procurement and address technical challenges during the design and manufacturing processes. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical designers, hydrogen systems engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless system integration and alignment with project objectives. Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for electrical systems, including P&ID’s, Functional Design Specifications, Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, and Component Specifications. Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety and Quality & Environmental policies that affect the relevant work area. Control System Engineer - Marine Requirements: 10 years of experience in control system/Instrument design, within the marine sectors. Degree level preferred but will consider candidates with HND or equivalent vocational qualifications. Proficiency in using 2D CAD software (such as AutoCAD) for drawing and system design. Good working knowledge of M/S Excel, Word and PowerPoint Hands-on experience with field installs, commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical, control systems and Instrumentation systems. Strong understanding of marine and industrial engineering principles, and related regulations. Knowledge of Hydrogen Technologies would be an advantage. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for field work, up to 25% of the time.
