East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust Libraries Service is looking for a committed and enthusiastic person to devise and deliver project-based sessions using Minecraft, coding and other digital technologies.
You will be part of the Children & Families Team which offers activities like class visits, BookBug sessions, Code Club, Minecraft Club, crafts and activity days within our libraries. We have recently received funding to develop and extend our digital offer and a large part of this temporary post will be trialling, delivering and embedding sessions for 10-15yr olds with an emphasis on participants planning and creating small projects.
You should have experience of working positively with children and young people, and a real enthusiasm for Minecraft and coding, especially Scratch & Python. We are also looking for good organisational and communication skills plus a sense of responsibility and teamwork. Familiarity with standard office software such as Excel, Outlook and Word would also be a requirement of the post.
There will be considerable flexibility in the hours with a standard weekly pattern plus the ability to add extra hours to cover experimentation with sessional programmes especially afternoons (3 – 7pm), Saturdays and during the school holidays. There will be scope for discussion with the post-holder in creating schedules.
This post will be subject to Enhanced Disclosure/PVG.
Minimum Requirements
Successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.
In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
