The School of Army Aeronautical Engineering (SAAE) operates in a �whole-force� educational environment with a mix of Military and Civil Service personnel, who play a key role in delivering world-class technical training to a broad audience of soldiers across a varied aviation maintenance curriculum to ensure the army�s continuing airworthiness. The Training Manager � SAAE Headquarters role offers an unparalleled opportunity to support and enable the delivery of interesting, demanding and rewarding training, to shape and nurture the next generation of Army Aviation Technicians and Supervisors, helping to prepare them for demanding operational roles.�

Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join SAAE, we are actively seeking a dynamic and adaptable manager to proactively manage support contracts, project manage the procurement and implementation of new training equipment/facilities, develop and co-ordinate the availability of training support infrastructure and manage the small headquarters team of military and civilian specialists, to provide quality assurance, ensure instructor professional competence and administrative support, to enable effective training to occur.�
Responsibilities�
The successful candidate will be responsible to the Head of Training Delivery for:�
1. Department leadership and management of HQ elements, functional management of 2x Warrant Officers and Line Management of 1x civilian EO band, counter signing responsibilities for 2x AO clerical staff.�
2. Responsible for facilitating the delivery of staff professional training and Military/Civil Aviation Authority competence training.�
3. Deputising in the absence of any of the other Training Managers within SAAE, for the Functional Management of military Instructors and Line Management of civilian Instructors. This may include the daily tasking of individual staff or giving direction to departmental leads and the recording of activity using schedule management tools.
4. Responsible for the management of all equipment and training aids used by the school, ensuring audit process is effective, fault reporting and replacement is coordinated, planned and actioned.�
5. Ensuring the Quality Management system is effectively run by the Quality Manager, Administrative support is effective.�
6. Liaison with relevant contract managers to ensure contract-delivered training and support services are delivered to standard. Maintaining regular Lines of Communication with relevant stakeholders�
7. Responsible for ensuring the departments have completed their own audits and self-assessment activities, and, where required, corrective actions are developed and enacted.�
8. Coordinating with partner organisations to ensure the training pipeline is managed efficiently across the site which also hosts other schools.�
9. Functioning as Engagement Champion for the school in the wider Civil service environment.�
10. Lead interviewer for future Civil Service recruitment activities.�
Person specification
The ideal candidate should be a great written and oral communicator with the ability to effectively describe complicated ideas to different audiences. You must be well organised, proficient in time management, and flexible in your approach to problem solving. Effective Microsoft Office skills are essential, knowledge of project management and auditing are desirable but training in these areas can be made available.��
Whilst there are opportunities to work flexibly, regular attendance on-site at MoD Lyneham will be required.�

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working.� This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
