Quality Engineer required to work for a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation based near Uxbridge. We are looking for an effective and well-organised individual to work within a top-level Quality team on a 6-month contract basis. You will be required to perform independent visual and dimensional inspection of component parts, sub-assemblies, and finished product assemblies.
This role is key to ensuring the business meets operational compliance in line with the company's procedures, specifications, and customer/certification requirements. To do this, you will represent the quality team in all areas of operational quality. You will be supporting and administrating the implementation of root cause and corrective actions within the business, focusing on operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Day-to-day support of operational quality issues
* Creating daily reports of customer escapes, scrap, and inspection turnaround
* Drive a quality and right-first-time culture within the functional area
* Support and guide the implementation of root cause and corrective actions within all areas of the business
* Manage the site's NCR process and engagement with the MRB (Material Review Board)
* Adhere to the internal procedures and quality plans as defined
* Take a proactive approach to quality control function leading to quality assurance, with the focus to increase inline inspection and application of control plans to reduce the number of customer returns
* Responsible for documenting all operational and project concerns, issuing and managing the non-conformance for satisfactory response and closure (e.g., NCR, MRB processes)
* Support and participate in continuous improvement events within the business management system
* Give guidance to the operational and other quality staff on aspects relating to quality
* Monitor and escalate, where necessary, internal product quality issues
* Strong attitude for motivating others and leading teams of people
* Promote good ethical behaviour in the organisation
* Identify gaps relating to processes and implement procedural changes to reflect current practices which comply with internal, customer, or certification requirements
Experience:
* Extensive experience in manufacturing environments
* High school education or above qualification - preferably related to industry
* Strong Excel and PowerPoint knowledge
* Good problem-solving skills and an investigative mentality
* Very good oral and written communication skills
* Must have the right to work in the UK
