We are looking for an enthusiastic Obstetric Sonography Support Worker to join our Maternity and Sonography team within the Women's, Children's and Young Person's Care Group. The Obstetric Sonography Support Workers will work within Maternity Services Ultrasound rooms which are situation across all Hospital and satellite sites at William Harvey, Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother, Kent and Canterbury, Buckland Hospital Dover, Deal and Royal Victoria Hospital in Folkstone. The Obstetric Sonography Support Workers will support assisting Obstetric Sonographers, in the care of patients undergoing their Obstetric ultrasound and provide support to all health care professionals within the multi-disciplinary team
This post will be based at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury. You will be required to work weekends on a shift basis
Applicants must have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team. This post will include shifts between the hours of 8am – 8pm over 7 days a week, including weekends and bank holidays.
A key element of the role is to provide administrative assistance to ensure effective work flow.
Contribute to a positive patient / service user experience within the Obstetrics Ultrasound department.
Promote a welcoming and inviting atmosphere within the department.
Enable timely and effective use of Obstetric Sonography time through effective administration of clinics, appointments and flow through the department.
Patients / service users receive safe and effective support and treatment whilst undergoing Obstetric ultrasound.
Utilise evidence-based healthcare practice in clinical areas in order to maintain standards of care.
Participate in and promote interdisciplinary team working, liaising closely with all of those involved in the care setting in order to ensure continuity of care.
Ensure the clinical environment is clean, tidy and well presented to ensure a safe treatment area for patients / service user, and staff.
Following appropriate training and supervised practice, undertake identified competency-based practices which are required such as phlebotomy and recording of vital signs.
