About the Role
To act as an Assistant Manager for the retail operations of the SU, including The Village Shop, and/or The Union Shop, on our Mile End Campus. The role has responsibility over the assistance in day-to-day operational management of our shop/s, ensuring that the customer perception of both our Shops and our staff is positive at all times.
The post holder will need to ensure that whilst on shift, the shop/s operate in accordance with departmental standards with a primary aim of ensuring our students are at the forefront of our business development, whilst looking to help drive sales within these spaces.
About You
You should be a ‘hands on’ approachable leader who is committed to the values of the organisation, being a safe, friendly environment with the student experience at its core. This role’s hours would be predominantly Monday – Friday, a variety of different shifts, with the flexibility to adapt working hours as long as it also suits the needs of the business. Some weekend work would be required during exceptionally busy times and/or event days.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work with a wide range of people. Candidates must have the ability to work well under pressure, prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines.

The Union Shop, at Queen Mary University of London, offers a great selection of leading brands for our students, staff and members of the public. We sell food to go, both hot and cold food/drinks, stationary, QMUL merchandise, clothing and much more.
