We are working with our client in Bishop Auckland who are an established and highly successful CNC manufacturing and assembly company in their search for a buyer.
You will be responsible for working within the purchasing function to organise stock and ensure procurement is conducted to maximise commercial viability. You will also use and update the companies MRP system and order raw materials and consumables.

Responsibilities:
1. To ensure continuous raw material supply to the site to achieve production demands, maintaining minimum/maximum stock targets in parallel with supplier lead times.
2. To raise purchase orders for regular stock items, non-direct material and sub-contracting.
3. To maintain clear visibility of purchase order status; identifying potential late deliveries and taking action to mitigate them. Expediting on a daily basis ensuring a clear visibility for the production team.
4. To investigate and resolve any delivery discrepancies alongside goods in and stores departments, communicating closely with suppliers to root cause issues for resolution.
5. To work closely with overseas and long lead-time supply base.
6. To maintain stock level values in line with targets set by the Supply Chain Manager with regular analysis of targets vs actual.
7. To support the Supply Chain Manager with analysis of purchase price variations.
8. To follow and support development of procurement department processes and procedures.
9. To ensure prices paid for goods and services are in line with expectation; challenging and negotiating when required.
10. To support the movement of sub-contract material as well as the negotiation of sub-contract pricing.
11. To deal with supplier invoice queries and implement measures and corrective action to prevent recurrence.
Person Spec:
1. Experience working as a buyer in an engineering/manufacturing company essential.
2. Experience of working with raw materials (Steel etc) advantageous.
3. Able to use IT and MRP systems.
