Nuclear Safety Case Engineer (Technical Integration Lead) – VCAS/ACAS - Submarines
An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Nuclear Safety Case Engineer (Technical Integration Lead) to join our Department based within the Services Delivery Business Unit (DBU) in Submarines Derby.
You will be required to manage technical work packages as part of the Submarine Programmes scope of nuclear safety case responsibility for Naval Reactor Plants. Your role will be the prime engineering and technical programme contact between the Customer, Sites, Services Project Function and interfacing DBUs.
You will be responsible for advising the technical content and delivery of agreed work packages for In-Service Submarines for the Vanguard Class Availability Sustainment and the Astute Class Availability Sustainment (VCAS/ACAS) programme and also for key programmes related to through-life management of the Reactor Core. As a Technical Integration Lead you will be expected to represent the company at key meetings across the Submarines Enterprise.
This role provides the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the submarines enterprise and influence the progress of key technical programmes.
What you’ll be doing:
* Provision of programme and technical guidance for the production, delivery, maintenance, assessment and approval of nuclear safety case documentation and supporting technical work packages.
* Acting as a DBU point of contact for technical matters with internal suppliers, external customers and other key stakeholders to fully understand current and ongoing needs in support of the UK Submarine programme.
* Working with project areas and DBUs, review and provide guidance on planning and scoping tasks.
* Maintaining appropriate relationships with internal/external stakeholders, to ensure that nuclear safety case activities being undertaken are correctly focused, integrated, efficient and effective.
* Interaction/engagement with PIE programme to understand and progress interfacing work packages for through-life management of the Reactor Core.
* Leading the VCAS/ACAS technical and safety programme at this key point in the programme to ensure continued availability of the SSN & SSBN fleet.
Who we’re looking for:
* Be proactive, and work under minimal supervision within the customer environment.
* Possess good communication and customer management / relationship skills.
* Present at key customer forums; interfacing with chief engineers and senior representatives from MoD.
* Be qualified to at least degree level in a relevant (engineering/science/maths) discipline.
To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place.
