Marine Project Manager – 3-6 Month Temporary Contract
The project manager is the person ultimately responsible for the project success. Ensuring on-time delivery and to achieve or improve project budget performance, while also maintaining quality and a safe working environment.
Scope
The Project Management of vessel delivery, including the following phases.
o Pre-award activities.
o Design and specification definition, budget estimation.
o Build.
o Testing & Commissioning.
o Client delivery.
* Provide visible, pro-active HSE leadership, ensuring that all HSE policies and processes are followed and ensure that stated requirements for incident reporting, task risk assessment and safe methods of work are followed.
* Establish and leading multidisciplined teams for delivery success.
* Comprehend the delivery contract and ensure all contractual obligations are met and the project scope and specification are clear, formally agreed and delivered.
* The project manager will hold budget responsibility - Tracking the costs of the various phases in accordance with company financial reporting principles.
* Scope definition - Work closely with the Product Manager, Technical Manager and Design & Development team to review designs, specifications, and technical documentation.
* Budget management – work closely with Commercial and Procurement team on estimation of overall project costs based on vessel specifications and scope agreement with the client. Tracking the costs of the various phases in accordance with company financial reporting principles.
* Project Supply Chain - Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to source materials, equipment, and services required for the project. Ensure timely delivery of all components and compliance with the project specifications.
* Project Commercial requirements - Manage contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors involved in the project. Monitor performance, resolve disputes, and ensure contractual obligations are met.
* Quality Management - Implement quality control measures to ensure that all works, equipment and materials meets regulatory requirements, industry standards, safety and technical requirements and customer expectations. Coordinate and enforce regular inspections, investigations and audits to identify and address any project issues.
* Liaising directly with the USV Compliance Officer to ensure that the vessel is designed and built in accordance with the applicable USV statutory rules and regulations.

* Risk Management - Identify and register potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and delays. Proactively address issues as they arise to keep the project on track.
* Communication & Stakeholders management - Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, internal teams, and external partners. Provide regular updates on project progress, milestones, and any changes to scope or requirements.
* Continually seek to improve project performance. Developing or introducing new processes and tools to improve productivity and quality of Project Management.
* Schedule management – coordinate with Project Planner to ensure regular health check and reporting of the schedule.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for all aspects of project performance, vessel delivery and safety management.
* To ensure that all work is undertaken to meet project scope, budget, schedule and quality targets.
* To develop and maintain comprehensive project plans for USV construction, including schedules, budgets, registers and resource plans.
* Ensure vessels are delivered according to project plan timelines and milestones.
* Maintaining awareness, understanding and control of all commercial and technical matters relating to the delivery of the contract.
* To ensure that the project is managed with the highest quality and professionalism in accordance with the company Integrated Management System and the Project Management framework.
* To ensure that all activities are carried out with the highest regard to the health and safety of all involved and to the protection of the environment.
* Management, coordination of project related meetings. Kick-offs, project updates, team meetings etc.
* Budgetary control on all procurement costs; review and approve purchase orders.
* Diligent and detailed cost control and budgetary monitoring.
* Ensure project reporting is properly managed, and delivered, in accordance with management expectations.
* Manage all aspects of contract compliance including Management of Change, change control, contract variations
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Experience: Minimum 5 years in ship/boat building, or marine technology management with proven success in relevant project management.
* Must have some knowledge of ship systems such as marine engines, propulsion systems, auxiliary systems, electrical and instrumentation systems, automation systems, navigation and communication systems, alarm & monitoring systems.
* Experience with creating project plans, resource plans, risk registers and
* financial forecasts and managing project budgets.
Desirable
* Sound knowledge of construction and production methodology of ships/ boats with steel, aluminium and composite hulls.
* APM or PMP Qualifications.
Generic Skills:
* Proficient in the use of MS Office and project planning software such as MS Project and other common software packages.
