Job overview
The post holder will support the Group Fire Safety Training Coordinator and help deliver the Trust’s training program in relation to fire safety across all areas.
Based predominantly at Oxford Road Campus or Wythenshawe Hospital, the post holder will also assist in day-to-day fire safety matters in all the Trust’s premises (including when required any off-site properties, North Manchester General, Trafford General, Withington, and Altrincham Hospitals).
Main duties of the job
General Requirements
1. Monitor changes in fire safety legislation and guidance and update training presentations accordingly.
2. Attend training courses and seminars when appropriate to maintain personal knowledge of fire safety at the highest level.
3. Understand the work practices of wards and departments throughout the Trust and ensure that fire safety measures are compatible with the operational efficiency of the Trust.
4. Prepare training programs for all staff within the Trust and deliver training sessions both at ward or departmental level and via general fire lectures. Devise differing lectures for the various categories of staff.
5. Train members of the Hospital Fire Teams in their specific responsibilities.
6. Arrange and monitor a program of annual fire drills in the appropriate buildings. Witness the effectiveness of evacuation arrangements and recommend remedial action when necessary.
7. Ensure that contractors working within the Trust are aware of fire safety requirements prior to them commencing work on site. Carry out regular inspections of work sites to ensure that fire safety is being maintained.
8. Arrange and conduct training sessions to ensure adequate Fire Wardens are appointed across the Trust.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education to include GCSE grades A-C in English Language and Maths or equivalent.
* Level 3 award in education and training.
* IOSH general certificate or equivalent.
* Membership of a relevant professional organisation.
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience in the preparation and delivery of training sessions to a variety of audience groups.
* An understanding of the evacuation procedures relevant to hospitals.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Able to interact effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
* Able to work with minimal supervision and manage fire safety matters within the Trust.
* Ability to make own judgments having considered relevant legislation and guidance.
* Has undertaken research to become familiar with how fire safety is managed in healthcare and be aware of the relevant guidance and legislation.
* Holds a current driving license.
* Ability to utilise Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
