Bridge and Patrixbourne CEP School Before and After-School Club (BASC) is a new exciting provision for primary school children. The ideal candidate will work as part of the Bridge staff with children aged 4-11 years. We are currently recruiting support workers to work up to 15 hours a week (minimum 9 hours).
Working days would be Monday to Friday (term time only) with working hours from 3.00pm to 6.00pm. Ideally, we would prefer applicants who could work every day Monday to Friday; however, there is some flexibility.
Whilst we welcome applications from any candidates, this role would particularly suit someone studying for a childcare/education qualification in sixth-form or university.
Essential Requirements:
* Experienced in play work or childcare
* Fun, passionate, and enthusiastic about working with children
* Knows how to create a fun and creative working environment for children
* Able to interact well with both children and parents
* Excellent communication skills together with sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children
* Ability to work on own initiative
Desirable Requirements:
* Has a valid Paediatric First Aid/Food Hygiene qualification, or is willing to undertake qualification
* At least 2 years’ experience of working in a childcare setting
Responsibilities and Duties:
* Preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment
* Providing comprehensive care for the children
* Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health, and safety standards are met
* Administering first aid when necessary
* Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment
* Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities
* Providing support to other staff, including volunteers
* Developing and maintaining good communication with all members of the club, with schools, and especially with parents
* Undertaking appropriate and relevant training
* Monitoring and maintaining a healthy, safe, and secure working environment
* Working within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage
