Job Title: Lean 6 Sigma Black Belt
Salary/Grade: £63,537 - £79,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Peterborough

About E+ES
Caterpillar’s Electrification + Energy Solutions (E+ES) division focuses on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

The opportunity:
As a Lean 6 Sigma Black Belt, you will support our customers’ journey into electrification by helping them solve problems from bringing power to site, to charging equipment and supporting electrical machines safely and in line with local regulations.
This role covers all of Caterpillar’s Energy and Transportation businesses with customers in Marine, Rail, Electric Power and 3rd party. You will engage with all electrification products Caterpillar Inc. is developing, from batteries to chargers and other electric drive train components.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in developing themselves as a Lean 6 Sigma Black Belt. Training and support will be provided in this role.
What you will do:
* Support site deployments of assets for our Energy and Transportation customers.
* Understand complexity of site implementation, covering internal and external requirements.
* Project manage Electric Power requirements from E+ES for both services and electrification products.
* Coordinate with E+ES functional teams and Energy & Transportation partners to ensure solutions are delivered to our customers.
* Identify and analyze processes to determine areas for improvement and increased efficiency.
* Monitor and track progress of process improvement initiatives and report on results to senior management.
* Identify and address potential roadblocks or challenges to successful implementation of lean processes.
What you have:
Project Management - Level Working Knowledge:
* Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status.
* Assists in detailed project plans including schedule and resource requirements.
* Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project.
* Produces standard project status reports.
Problem Solving - Level Working Knowledge:
* Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.
* Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.
* Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information (e.g., Scatter plot, correlation, normal distribution).
* Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.
* Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools such as A3 and/or 6S to identify problems.
* Utilizes analytical data to identify key issues and monitor performance improvement (Lean, 7 steps, 6S).
Process Improvement - Level Working Knowledge:
* Defines the critical workflow for executing key processes.
* Identifies process problems that limit performance.
* Implements methods for improving and establishing controls for critical processes.
* Surfaces systemic problems to be addressed at the organizational level.
* Implements new processes and respective control plans to ensure consistency of execution and learning for improvement.
Active Learning - Level Extensive Experience:
* Applies feedback and changes behavior accordingly.
* Learns new concepts, processes and tools applicable to the needs of the entire unit.
* Develops and monitors programs that integrate learning with practice opportunities.
* Maintains a network of professional contacts, internal and external.
* Demonstrates grasp of new information and its implications.
* Displays inquisitiveness and keen drive to learn new industries and technology.
Additional Information:
* There is a travel requirement of up to 15%.
* This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring a 3-day weekly office presence onsite at our Peterborough office and remote work for the remaining days. However, work arrangements may be adjusted at any time based on business needs.
