The Department
Our Dispute Resolution and Litigation team specializes in providing bespoke solutions for clients in all forms of litigation, arbitration, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Our expert team of legal advisors and support staff are known for their ability to handle complex matters involving multiple issues. The team works on all types of disputes for a range of clients, including large corporate clients, smaller businesses, entrepreneurs, schools, and individuals. The range of work is diverse, including contractual disputes, director and shareholder disputes, professional negligence, insolvency, education law, regulatory and corporate defense, construction, contentious property issues, and contentious trust and probate. Our department is experienced in handling high-value as well as high-volume cases.
The Role
Working specifically in the area of Contentious Probate, you will be responsible for providing a quality, tailored, and supportive legal service to a wide range of clients. You will proactively manage a litigation caseload, mentor and support junior members of the team, and assist the head of department and partners with their client work.
Responsibilities include:
1. Accountable for managing a complex mixed caseload of client matters with limited supervision.
2. Providing clients with high-quality legal advice and proactively managing client relationships.
3. Achieving the firm’s fee targets and assisting others in the team to do so by mentoring and developing junior members.
4. Managing your time effectively to achieve targets and displaying excellent file management skills.
5. Acting for a mix of Claimants and Defendants, from obtaining initial instructions through to achieving a resolution to the dispute.
6. Maintaining your own caseload and obtaining appropriate guidance from Senior Lawyers when required.
7. Advising clients on the funding options available to them.
8. Advising clients on procedure and alternative dispute resolution processes.
9. Identifying and liaising with appropriate experts and Counsel.
10. Undertaking advocacy, when cost-effective, at all interlocutory stages.
11. Specializing in particular areas of law or processes as required by the Department.
12. Supporting senior members of the team in their caseloads, including running their cases during periods of absence.
13. Contributing to the firm’s knowledge bank.
14. Keeping up to date with developments in litigation law and disseminating developments to team members.
15. Undertaking additional technical qualifications in Litigation.
16. Undertaking any other reasonable duties allocated to the role.
