Our commitment to a flexible and hybrid working culture The Role: Within a Smart Meter engineering environment, engage with key stakeholders to define customer requirements and ensure solutions are designed and planned to meet or exceed expectations Drive the design and build activity, engaging with internal and external contributors to ensure the solution meets customer requirements Analyse engineering problems related to RAN equipment and systems or the causes of component failures and develop solutions to provide full resolution Provide technical support to ensure that customer radio networks continue to meet agreed Service Level Agreements Provide detailed, documented technical solutions and reports for distribution both internally and externally Identify risks within the design and build through the design review process and take action to ensure appropriate mitigation/management Develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide technical guidance to external and internal stakeholders Translate customer concept designs into detailed design, build and test specifications that meet customers’ requirements, within the constraints of the total costs of ownership and operability Drive innovation, both small and large, into and through the business; deploy and evidence with outcomes, a continuous improvement (CI) mind-set The Person • Either (Bachelor’s in Engineering / HND or equivalent in Engineering) or relevant experience relating to radio network design and operations • Track record of setting the standards for the design, development and testing of bespoke and COTS (Common off the Shelf) software/hardware for Telecommunication Networks, IP Networks, Smart Metering and IoT • Experience in setting the standards for processes and engineering practices related to area of expertise for platforms that support services. • Extensive experience working with suppliers – both developing new services/capabilities and driving 3rd parties to resolve and fix functionality issues and errors. • Experience in working in radio network design and optimisation including link budgets, radio propagation and protocols. • Strong knowledge of technologies involved in Radio Networks, M2M Communications, Large data collection, processing and management.
