Tait is a global industry leader in critical communications, and as our company grows, we're excited to open up the opportunity in our Christchurch Head Office for a Customer Support Engineer to join our essential business services team in our Service Management Centre (SMC) area.
In this role you will provide remote (online or by phone) technical support to our client's critical communication systems and networks, through the management of network events and incidents from start to resolution. Our Service Management Centre provides 24/7 support; our shift team is working on a rostered 4-on 4-off shift pattern which includes both day and night shifts. This role is for business hours 5 days per week and although NOT required to be on roster you may be asked to cover a shift when we are short-staffed.
Key responsibilities in this role include:
1. Work collaboratively as Level 2 Support in a 24/7 Network Operations Centre (NOC) like environment supporting various critical service providers worldwide;
2. Work in an ITIL framework-based IT Service Management (ITSM);
3. Gain world class solutions support experience within a global organisation;
4. Own and manage network events and incidents from start to resolution;
5. Use Tait's Managed Service tool suite to proactively correlate, isolate and resolve service issues.
We are seeking individuals who thrive in a Culture of Discipline, demonstrating self-discipline, disciplined action, and disciplined thinking as the fundamental core principles.
In addition, the ideal candidate will have:
1. An NZQA Level 5 / 6 Diploma or higher majoring in Electronics, Computing, Software, Telecommunication, Technical Support or Networking Technologies.
2. CCNA qualification would be favourable;
3. Have completed ITIL foundation courses or certification would be favourable;
4. Have at least 5 years experience in an ITIL based Service Desk or Call Centre; either as Level 2 / Level 3 support or technical coordinator;
5. Experience of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technology such as P25 / DMR, Cellular Technology or IP network management technicians or field support is mandatory;
6. Have excellent oral and written communication skills, delivered in an effective and professional manner via phone, chat apps, email, conference calls, technical documentation or in-person;
7. Understand the importance of customer service and going above and beyond to ensure quality service;
8. Be able to work as part of a 12-hour rotating shift roster on a request basis.
