Trainee Laser Operator – January 2025 Start What’s the job & who would it suit? A great opportunity has arisen to work as a Trainee Laser Operator to join us in January 2025 at SSC Laser in Hixon. In this position you will receive training on how to set up and run state of the art lasers to produce products from CNC files to the specification and quality required by the customer and business. You will also support the Laser Operators with picking materials required for each job and loading and off-loading of raw and finished materials. The role would suit someone with a background in production or machinery. Basic knowledge of how to operate a Fiber 10/12kw laser would be advantageous but not essential. What you’ll be doing So that you can get a feel for the job, here is what you will be doing day to day: Training on all Operations of our Fiber 12/20kw lasers to cut sheet and plate in mild steel and non-ferrous material Training on all loading and off loading of raw and finished materials Working to the cutting schedule to meet production requirements and maximize capacity Work pro-actively and part of a team to improve productivity and efficiency Packing and labelling of cut parts ready for despatch Clear and accurate completion of internal paperwork and job sheets Training in the use of our internal work operating system Loading and unloading material deliveries when required Operating a forklift in a safe and courteous manner Checking quality of cut parts Cleanliness and tidiness of immediate area To check machine operation and carry out daily and weekly maintenance tasks To store and organise materials in relevant storage areas To carry out any other reasonable duties as and when required What you’ll need to succeed Need to know A basic knowledge of how to operate a Fiber 10/12kw laser would be advantageous How to operate a forklift, or willing to be trained essential Need to have Ideally experience of working within a manufacturing environment FLT license is preferred but not essential as training can be given Need to demonstrate We have a number of core competencies that we believe are fundamental to both individual and business success. Week 2 - Monday - Thursday 13:45 - 22:15 with 45 minutes of unpaid breaks, Friday 13:00 - 20:45 with 45 minutes of unpaid breaks. Salary: £23,050 - £24,000 depending on experience. What’s on offer?
