An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual to join our dynamic and innovative team of adult neurosurgical specialist nurses on a full-time basis. Currently this role is Monday to Friday only.
We are looking for an experienced nurse with a neurosurgical background, who has a keen interest in supporting patient's journey primarily with Neurovascular conditions such as Subarachnoid haemorrhage, Aneurysms and Arteriovenous malformations, low grade tumours along with some complex spinal patients requiring either monitoring or surgery. You will work closely with a number of Consultant Neurosurgeons and Allied Health Care Professionals in both primary and secondary care setting. You will support patients and their families / carers throughout their disease trajectory from diagnosis to discharge and beyond. The aim of the role is to look at ways of reducing LOS admission avoidance and improving pathways and working with partner trusts.
The practice involves the assessment, planning and implementing of care and provision of specialist advice for patients across inpatient and out-patient settings across the East Anglian region. A key aspect of the role is to improve the patient pathway from referral through to discharge and beyond into the community setting. As such, you will undertake nurse led clinics and nurse-led discharges, as well as nurse-led procedures in what is a very proactive, patient facing role - requiring excellent communication and listening skills.
Main duties of the job
This role involves a degree of Trust level teaching, participating in research projects and presenting at MDT meetings including service development.
You must possess a current NMC registration, Neuro Course and have relevant experience within neurosurgery or neurology.

Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students
Responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care
Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area
