We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated customer focused individual to join our team on the Great Tey Ward at Colchester Hospital.
You will actively participate as a full member of the team, assisting with the smooth running of the ward by managing the reception and administrative functions in a timely, effective and efficient way alongside Doctors, Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.
Great Tey is a 27 bedded medically optimised for discharge ward, which opened at the end of last year. We are a small but welcoming team who are looking to appoint substantive staff. We are a supportive and forward thinking team who welcome applicants from like minded colleagues.
The ward takes patients 18 years + from all specialties and has a focus on the prevention of functional decline and discharge planning following a nurse led model of care.

This post is fixed term until 31st December 2025. Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only.
Main duties of the job
Your duties will include admission and discharge of patients on Trust computer systems, filing of notes, answering phones and liaising with multidisciplinary teams/departments across the trust.
You should be able to work autonomously, be able to prioritise your workload and to work well within a team. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, both face-to-face and over the phone.
It would be beneficial to have NHS experience and possess excellent IT and clerical skills. You will be dealing with the staff and general public so it is paramount that you have good people skills.
