What skills and experience we're looking for
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated full-time SENCO to join us at Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School either after the Easter break on 28th April 2025 or at the start of next academic on 1st September 2025.
We seek to appoint a SENCO whose core purpose will be:
• To lead and manage the provision for students with special educational needs in the school
• To ensure that the school meets statutory provision according to the Code of Practice
• To support the high quality teaching of students with SEND
• To raise attainment and achievement of students with SEND and to monitor and support students’ progress
• To assist the management and organisation of SEND resources and provision
• To track, monitor and evaluate the impact of the interventions aimed at literacy and numeracy
• Implement and monitor social and life skills programmes
• To work with the examination team to coordinate and facilitate the support of students during examination periods
• To develop effective working practices with staff, parents and agencies
The successful candidate will have experience of leading a successful SEND Department in the secondary sector as well as being an outstanding and passionate teacher with a proven track record. You will need strong communication skills and be able to lead, motivate, challenge and inspire both staff and students. We seek a visible and flexible leader, someone who has high levels of motivation and energy, is ambitious and upbeat, despite the obvious demands on their time, and a colleague who will give willingly to wider whole-school events.
