Determining the causes of:Systematic Programmable Elements Safety failures, Common causeanalysis Defining and monitoringProgrammable Elements Safety Requirements and compliance with CASSTOES Organising and contributing toHazard Identification workshops and Safety Committeemeetings The integration/acceptance ofCommercial off the Shelf (COTS) products Engaging with third parties, suchas equipment or system suppliers, to review and gather supportingProgrammable Elements Safety evidence in accordance with Def Stan00-055 Reporting the progress ofProgrammable Elements Safety Engineering activities at Project andProgramme reviews Working within an establishedSafety Management System you will bring your expertise andexperience to make recommendations forimprovements

Essential:
* Demonstrable experience in Programmable Elements SafetyEngineering and activities contributing to the production of FaultTree Analysis (FTA) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) allocationdocuments in order to develop Preliminary system safety assessment(PSSA) System Safety Assessment (SSA)
Able to demonstrate experience inunderstanding safety of systems with Programmable Elements inaccordance with Def Stan 00-055, Def Stan00-056 Experience in Safety Engineeringand Programmable Elements Safety Requirements in accordance withIEC/BS EN 61508 in defence domain Able to demonstrate competence inrigour of Software Development Safety Integrity Level (SIL) DesignAssurance Level (DAL) depending on industry experience
Desirable:
* Relevantengineering qualification such as BEng/ MEng or equivalentexperience

Wecurrently have a vacancy for a Principal Programmable ElementsSafety Engineer to join the Integrated Combat Systems team based ina variety of locations in the UK. The Combat System encompasses thesubmarine’s ‘fight capability’. This includes its ability to carry out allsubmarine Activities whilst submerged and remaining undetected byother parties. As a Principal Engineer – Safety (ProgrammableElements), you will be carrying out a range of ProgrammableElements Safety Engineering activities and analysis on all areas ofthe combat system, including navigation, command and control, andcommunication systems.
