Head of Data Science
My client is innovative AI-driven organisation dedicated to harnessing the power of machine learning and natural language processing to solve complex business challenges. Their build machine allows individual firms to leverage AI without having to have vast technical knowledge in house, allowing data migrations, prototyping, and complex application building and enhancement within a few days rather than weeks or months.
Being a start-up, they compete with some well-known figures in the industry, but allow for more autonomous development, helping firms to craft with grater automation and allowing them more autonomy.
Having grown from a small company of 3 founders, they now boast 14 after a 2.5-year stint. With 6 AI / Machine Learning Developers, they’re now looking for a Head of Data Science as operations expand. As the Head of Data Science, you will shape their data strategy, oversee the development and deployment of AI and machine learning solutions, and drive the adoption of LLMs and NLP to deliver impactful business outcomes.
This is a strategic role that will require both leadership and hands-on expertise, with a strong focus on scaling AI capabilities and advancing the organisation’s Data-Driven processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage, mentor, and grow a talented team of data scientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
* Craft and role out a definitive AI strategy, focusing on leveraging the best from Machine Learning (LLMs/NLP) as well as ensuring regulatory and ethical compliance standards.
* Direct and Lead end-to-end development and deployment efforts on all AI projects.
* Liaise with non-technical peers around project strategy, design, and insights.
* Keep abreast of changes within the AI/ML ecosystem, ensuring that you and your team are well equipped to tackle future challenges.
Key skills required:
* Previous experience in a leadership role within Data Science
* Strong expertise in Machine Learning / AI – with a particular emphasis on NLP / LLM solutions
* Strong DevOps / DevSecOps / MLOps deployment and best practices experience
* Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, HFT
* Proven experience of tracking model performance and working on key areas such as quantization / pruning to manage desired outcomes

* Technical call with a technical co-founder (Est. Dec)
* Final technical call back to the business – in person with a short presentation (Est. Dec / Jan)

This position is offered as hybrid within London, meeting twice weekly in offices (Tuesday and Thursday). Unfortunately the company cannot offer visa sponsorship.
