Role Summary The Product Lead will be responsible for driving the strategic vision, development, and performance of PayAngel's product portfolio, with a focus on African payment technologies and trends, financial services innovation, and delivering market-driven solutions. The role will oversee product lifecycle management and revenue growth, leveraging deep knowledge of African markets, payment systems, and customer behavior. This position requires a dynamic leader who can manage cross-functional teams, ensure product-market fit, and align product development with business objectives. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on product management to deliver scalable, impactful solutions that meet the needs of both customers and the business. Key Duties and Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Strategic Product Management: Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with the company's growth objectives and market demands. Develop market-driven products focusing on African payment ecosystems and cross-border remittance innovations. Analyze market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity to inform product positioning and enhancements. Revenue and P&L Ownership: Take ownership of product P&L, ensuring products contribute to revenue growth and profitability. Collaborate with the Chief Growth Officer to develop and monitor financial targets, optimizing product performance. Identify and execute opportunities for product upselling, cross-selling, and value addition. Cross-Functional Leadership? Oversee and coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and operations, to ensure seamless product delivery. Partner with stakeholders across compliance, risk, and customer service to align product features with regulatory requirements and customer needs. Act as the primary liaison between the product team and leadership to drive strategic decision-making. Customer-Centric Innovation Advocate for customer needs, ensuring products deliver exceptional user experiences. Build solutions that address challenges unique to African markets, such as mobile penetration, payment infrastructure, and regulatory complexities. Drive product discovery and user testing, ensuring continuous alignment with market needs. Regulatory and Market Expertise Stay abreast of regulatory changes and payment trends in the UK, EU, and African markets. Ensure products meet compliance standards, including those related to Consumer Duty and local African regulations. Collaborate with third-party providers, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure operational excellence. Team Building and Development Mentor and manage product managers, fostering a high-performance culture. Build scalable processes and best practices for product development, delivery, and evaluation. Competency Specification Education Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Technology, or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred). Professional certifications such as CSPO, SAFe Product Manager/Product Owner, or similar Agile certifications are a plus. Required experience level 8 years of experience in product management, with at least 3 years in financial services or payments. Proven track record of managing product lifecycles, from ideation to go-to-market, in fintech or payment sectors. Demonstrated knowledge of African payment systems, technologies, and market dynamics. Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple stakeholders Key Competencies/Skills (Must haves) Strong financial acumen with experience managing product P&Ls. Expertise in Agile/SCRUM methodologies with a focus on delivery excellence. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels. Analytical mindset with a results-driven approach to solving complex problems. Desired Competencies (added advantage) Experience building and scaling teams across regions, particularly Africa. Background in driving mobile-first or digitally inclusive products in emerging markets. Passion for leveraging technology to solve complex payment and remittance challenges.
