Steam Main Propulsion and Auxiliary Equipment Technician Subject Matter Expert (SME ) Invictus Associates requires a Steam Main Propulsion and Auxiliary Equipment Technician Subject Matter Expert (SME ) to provide technical support services with a current USN Main Propulsion and Electrical Division customer. Ten (10) years’ experience in operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of US Navy Marine Main Reduction Gear, Turning Gear, Line Shaft Bearings, Thrust Bearings, Shaft Seals, Bulkhead Shaft Seals, and Auxiliary Equipment. The candidate will be able to: Provide technical assistance, assessments, inspections, troubleshooting, corrective actions, adjustments/repairs, and groom support. Observe/conduct cold/hot checks of equipment, note condition and parameters for any out of specification readings or settings. Conduct oversight of repairs being conducted to engines/equipment for technical completion and standards onboard ships or shipyards. Observe operation of specified systems and equipment by ship's force to witness the full range of performance, where possible. Appropriate measuring/test equipment shall be used to obtain data for evaluation. Evaluate the findings of the cold/hot checks/inspections and operational checks and oversee ships force accomplishment of adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible during the time available. Upon completion of each ship visit, the candidate shall provide a written visit debrief/report to the corresponding government SME. The candidate may be requested to attend conferences, seminars etc. Shall report discussion points/results/outcomes to the appropriate government SME. Upon a customer’s request, the contractor shall provide on the job training to Ships Force during any shipboard evolutions. Candidate shall meet the following minimum requirements: Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, as well as visit processes and reporting methods. Demonstrate ability to conduct troubleshooting, problem isolation, repair, maintenance, assessments and inspections of cognizant equipment and systems utilizing accepted procedures and repair standards. Demonstrate ability to interpret ships’ drawings, schematics, technical manuals and other associated manuals, instructions, and procedures. Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Shall be familiar and comply with the references listed Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFFM) NAVSEA Standard Items OPNAVINST 9220.3 (series) NAVSEAINST C9210.4 (series) OPNAVINST N9210.3 (series). Five (5) years specialized hands-on experience in operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of US Naval Marine Main Reduction Gear, Turning Gear, Shaft Line Bearings, Thrust Bearings, Main Shaft Seals, Bulkhead Shaft Seals, Gas Turbine Generator Reduction Gear, Emergency Diesel Generator Pedestal Bearings, Air Operated Diaphragm Control Valves and Auxiliary Equipment. Experience in GTG Reduction Gear alignments, clutch assessment and repairs, and machinery vibration analysis. Must obtain certification of at least Category II Vibration Analyst, or higher, within six (6) months of task order award or new employee onboarding. Must have recent (within 18 months) hands-on experience with operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of respective equipment. Travel: Travel is authorized via the Contracting Officer. Travel shall be approved in writing (email acceptable) by the COR in advance of being utilized. Any additional travel required shall not be allowed unless authorized in writing. Security: The highest level of security required for this task is SECRET. Personnel performing classified work or requiring access to classified material or spaces under this effort shall possess both a DOD security clearance at the appropriate (or higher) level and the need to know. Candidates shall sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) provided by the customer. Places Of Performance: Engineering and technical support services shall be performed at the customer’s facility, on U.S. Naval Ships in port and underway, in Navy public and commercial shipyards, at various contractor sites, and U.S. Naval facilities or as otherwise specified. It is anticipated that the following level of effort will be utilized. 95% of work takes place at Government Sites and 5% offsite/OCONUS. Actual work location utilization may vary slightly during performance based on mission needs.
