Job summary The post holder will provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership within the delivery Suite, Midwifery led units and triage area thus ensuring both safe and high standards of clinical care. The post holder will have expert clinical knowledge, being able to lead and teach other midwives in advancing the midwifery profession within the Delivery Suite and co located Midwife Led Unit. As an expert the post holder must have wide experience of normal midwifery and be skilled in the management of high-risk obstetrics. The post holder will lead on the continual development of staff within her/his remit and will play a pivotal role in the implementation of existing and forthcoming NICE guidance for maternity care, Safer Childbirth document which contains the minimum standards for the organisation and delivery of care in labour and confidential enquiries. The post holder will be an effective role model and act as an expert midwife. The post holder will take the lead on clinical risk incident reporting. The post holder will be highly visible, accessible and recognisable to patients, relatives and staff and act as a champion for privacy and dignity, professional standards and patient advocacy.
