3 months contract with a Local Authority Job Summary: • To undertake a variety of repair, maintenance, and refurbishment tasks on the Council’s housing stock and corporate properties, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard, in accordance with schedules, safety regulations, and council policies. • The post holder will operate in the field, using a PDA to receive and complete work orders efficiently and be responsible for the safe use and upkeep of a council-provided vehicle. Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): • Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks in line with works orders and schedule of rates. • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with relevant health and safety procedures. • Operate a PDA system efficiently to manage and complete allocated jobs. • Maintain a council vehicle to required standards (e.g. fluid levels, cleanliness, logs). • Participate in multi-skill training and asbestos awareness responsibilities as required. • Contribute to out-of-hours emergency call-out duties as needed. • Adhere to safeguarding, customer care, financial, and audit policies of the Council. • Provide a customer-focused service, communicating effectively with tenants and colleagues. Skills/Experience: • Practical experience in housing maintenance. • Multi-skilled with a good understanding of health and safety practices. • Strong interpersonal and team working skills. • Fluent in spoken English (for customer-facing interactions). • Ability to interpret and complete job orders and reports via PDA. Additional Information: • Recognised qualification in relevant trade (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent). • Post holder must hold a valid UK driving licence.
