Energis is recruiting for a Process Engineer to join our client, an innovative manufacturing business based in North Down.
The successful Process Engineer will focus on improving efficiency, reducing waste and ensuring quality standards in a high-precision production environment.
You will combine a strong technical background with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence. Applicants should ideally have experience in the plastics / polymers / extrusion industries or similar.
Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and monitor lean manufacturing strategies to enhance productivity, minimise waste, and improve product quality
* Analyse production data and identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process enhancements
* Collaborate with the maintenance and tooling teams to ensure optimal equipment performance and recommend upgrades or modifications as needed
* Work closely with the quality assurance team to maintain stringent tolerances and ensure compliance with industry and customer standards
* Train production teams on lean principles, methodologies, and best practices to sustain continuous improvement efforts
* Liaise with R&D, engineering, and production teams to support new product development and process validation
Essential Criteria:
* Third level qualification (ideally degree) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
* Proven experience (2-3+ years) in process engineering
* Expertise in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process improvement tools
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and drive actionable solutions
* Excellent communication skills
* Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., CAD, ERP systems, process simulation tools)
Desirable criteria:
* Previous experience in the plastics, polymers, extrusion or related industries
* Certification in Lean or Six Sigma
Salary is in the region of £38k depending upon experience. The company operates an early finish on Fridays!
