Job Description:
The Department of Psychology at Lancaster University is currently seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in Neuroscience.
This is one of three strategic appointments to develop and enhance research and teaching in our growing Department.
The Department of Psychology at Lancaster University has a core complement of over 40 members of academic staff and a thriving community of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students across the four research areas of Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Neuroscience and Neurocognition, and Social Processes.
We embed research reproducibility and R-based teaching across the taught curriculum and actively support open science initiatives.
In the Psychology Department, we conduct world-leading research to elucidate neurocognitive, behavioural, and perceptual processes across the lifespan, in neurotypical and clinical populations. We are interested in how such processes function both on an individual level, as well as when interacting with others ‘brain-to-brain’.
As well as a multidisciplinary and vibrant research culture, we have an excellent research environment for testing participants at all life stages, with a rich suite of the latest technologies for examining neurocognition, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Multi-channel Transcranial electrical brain stimulation, several Electroencephalography setups, functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy, eye-trackers, motion tracking, Virtual Reality Suites, Computational Neuroscience facilities, Biophysics, sound-proof Auditory laboratories, polysomnography, and functional Transcranial Doppler.
The Department was recently awarded an Athena Swan Silver award and is committed to Lancaster University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and Widening Participation. We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups and seek to provide a work environment that supports the individual needs of each employee and promotes a healthy work-life balance. Applicants are encouraged to detail any career breaks or significant periods of leave (e.g., for caring responsibilities) in their CV. Our early career lecturers have reduced teaching and administrative allocations and experience success in funding acquisition, teaching awards, and career progression.
All applicants must have a track record of research and teaching excellence, commensurate with stage of career, demonstrated by:
1. publications,
2. research grant acquisition,
3. engagement and socio-economic impact,
4. teaching and leadership experience.
