About the Opportunity: Our Structural Analysis and Assessment Team, based at our Birchwood office, Warrington, UK comprises a broad range of Engineering and Scientific experts spanning mathematics, physics, structural and mechanical engineering, coding/programming, finite element stress analysis and structural integrity analysis/assessment. We provide these services to a range of customers, mainly but not exclusively in the nuclear industry, to ensure the economic and safe operation of capital-intensive plant, from both government and private industry. We also actively participate in a number of national and international projects and work closely with other parts of the business to provide integrated solutions to client requirements. As the demand for our services grow there is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and enthusiastic Senior Structural Integrity Engineer to join the team and apply their skills and knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, structural design/assessment and mechanical engineering to evaluate the performance and in-service behaviour of nuclear safety related structures and components. The successful candidate will have a sound structural integrity background, preferably with experience in delivering consultancy services to the nuclear or process industry sectors. As a Senior Structural Integrity Engineer you will be expected to supervise and mentor staff at an earlier stage in their career. You will also be expected to support the development of the business through the identification, bidding, winning and delivery of projects to clients. Key responsibilities - Design and/or analysis and assessment of complex structures and components utilising knowledge of classical strength of materials, implementation of analytical techniques such as finite element analysis and the application of relevant codes & standards. - Discussing and developing solutions with colleagues and customers; - Producing high quality technical reports on the outcome of your work; - Checking work of other team members; - Interfacing with customers throughout the lifecycle of projects; - Assisting in maintaining the technical capability/knowledge of the team; - Representing the business in technical meetings with clients and third parties; - Delivering work to time, cost We are looking for a Chartered Engineer or Scientist in their discipline, educated to degree level in mechanical engineering (or other relevant degree) and with extensive industrial experience and professionally accredited to IEng/CEng or working towards. We are also looking for the following skills, experience or qualifications: - BEng (Hons)/MEng or equivalent in a relevant STEM degree - CEng or IEng preferred but not essential - Experience of using relevant FEA software packages (Abaqus/ANSYS/Patran). - Proficient in application of Structural design codes such as ASME, Eurocodes, British Standards; - Curiosity, a questioning attitude and analytical skills to drive innovative solutions.
