SEND Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work 1-to-1 with primary-aged pupils in a vibrant, mainstream primary school in Carlisle. The Role:
* Provide tailored 1-to-1 support for primary-aged pupils with SEND, ensuring they thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
* Participate in sensory circuits, soft play activities, and emotional regulation strategies to support students’ development.
* Implement behaviour management techniques, helping pupils to stay engaged and focused.
* Monitor and report on the effectiveness of interventions and strategies, ensuring each child’s progress is tracked and optimised.
* Work closely with the SENCo, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and speech therapists to ensure the best outcomes for students.
The Ideal Person and Skills/Education Needed:
* Warm, patient, and enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
* Experienced or qualified with at least a Level 2 Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification.
* Skilled in fostering emotional regulation and offering creative support that is tailored to each child’s needs.
* Confident in implementing and adapting behaviour management strategies to meet the individual needs of pupils.

Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. Both full-time and part-time applications are welcome.
