The project:
Mace provides PMO services (project controls, planning and scheduling, risk and change management) to a client who operates within the rail/transport sector. Projects can vary from construction through to infrastructure work. Projects can be any type of civil engineering works including utilities, roads, walkways, bridges, tunnelling through electrification, signalling, and other works. We may also be involved in refurbishment and new build construction work. Often Mace is managing multiple projects at any one time with values ranging from hundreds of thousands of pounds to multi-million-pound projects. Exposure of having experience of working in the role on the above type of projects is essential.
You'll be responsible for:
* Supporting the senior planning manager in the implementation and maintenance of project controls processes for scheduling, including the production of monthly reports, through the provision of intelligent information and analysis.
* Collaborating with other disciplines of project controls, as well as other project support functions, to help deliver project goals in keeping with the client's principles of trust, transparency, and teamwork.
* Maintaining an awareness of schedule interfaces with other programmes and their potential impact.
* Planning and managing the development, change, and improvement of the client level 4 IMS and providing planning guidance to the project and programme team.
* Identifying, evaluating, and providing solutions to time-related issues and providing quality checks on the scheduling data.
* Assisting in the trend and change process, including analysis of schedule impact, generating performance indicators, and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities.
* Providing fully resource programmes, producing resource histograms, resource level programmes, understanding and communicating the effect on programme schedules to the project team.
* Incorporating appropriate financial data in the programme to produce a project cost/time distribution profile and communicate the results to the project team.
* Displaying and evaluating the project critical path and advising the project team of the results and any appropriate corrective action.
* Producing and maintaining project baselines and executing the change control process as appropriate.
* Producing project reports or data directly from the planning software arranging the data to align with the company accounting software.
* Understanding and reporting on a project using earned value analysis techniques and interpreting/communicating the results and any corrective action to the project team.
You'll need to have:
* A HND or equivalent qualification in engineering, construction, or another related field.
* A detailed understanding of scheduling methodologies and techniques.
* A technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement, and construction methods and techniques in a UK context.
* The ability to produce accurate, complete, and fully logic-linked construction plans.
* Experience and knowledge in the use of scheduling software, ideally Primavera P6 version 7 and above.
* Experience on a major construction project. You can build lasting client relationships and provide support to strong, motivated teams.
* Proven project management or project controls experience in a similar scheduling role in a construction or consultancy background across large scale construction or infrastructure projects.
