The Role
Reporting to the Sales Director, the Business Development Director is a senior role responsible for securing large-scale new business. This role supports the customer’s end-user journey by integrating solutions from across GBG’s product portfolio.
What You Will Do
1. Generate leads and opportunities within targeted territories and customer segments.
2. Qualify and follow up on new business sales opportunities, following the sales process, and engaging potential customers professionally.
3. Engage with customers at strategic and operational levels, leading all engagements in the new business cycle, including presentations and negotiations.
4. Coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure customers understand the value proposition and benefits of GBG products and services.
5. Prepare proposals, including pricing and commercial structures, and organize customer reference visits.
6. Support bid and tender preparations with the Sales Director.
7. Work with Legal to finalize contracts and participate in negotiations.
8. Create, negotiate, and close commercial agreements.
9. Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure delivery matches sales commitments.
10. Follow up with clients during product delivery to ensure satisfaction and manage expectations, including handovers to Customer Success.
11. Participate in internal and external debriefs with clients.
12. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to incorporate client challenges into the Product Roadmap.
13. Liaise with the Technical Sales team on product updates and developments.
14. Assist in devising and implementing strategies to meet sales targets.
15. Attend industry events and provide market trend feedback.
16. Identify and develop unique selling propositions based on market and competitor knowledge.
What We're Looking For
1. Experience in senior leadership or commercial roles, with international experience preferred.
2. Proven track record of new business sales in complex B2B environments, especially in solution or technology sectors.
3. Target-driven with experience exceeding sales targets.
4. Ability to simplify complex solutions into clear value propositions.
5. Understanding of customer buying processes.
6. Motivated, ambitious, professional, and target-oriented with high energy.
7. Strong networking skills and relationship-building ability.
8. Passionate about prospecting, goal setting, and task completion.
9. Detail-oriented with accurate record-keeping skills.
10. Strategic planning capabilities.
