A bit about us We are looking for a Maintenance Worker to join us at RSPCA Gonsal Farm Animal Centre located in Dorrington, Shrewsbury. Nestled in 186 acres of beautiful Shropshire countryside, the centre cares for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds & all kinds of small furries. This is a full-time role for someone with a strong work ethic and proven maintenance experience. In this position you will play a key role in maintaining the functionality, safety and cleanliness of our facilities. Working hours: 08.30-16.30 Monday to Friday. What a day might look like for you Managing contractors when they are on site Routine maintenance and repairs to buildings and animal accommodations; - Emergency fire alarm testing - Security alarms - Basic check on vehicles (lights, tyres) Troubleshooting machinery, equipment or facilities failures Small amount of gardening Maintaining site and grounds Troubleshooting electrical and plumbing problems What makes a great Maintenance Worker? We are looking for a proactive and friendly person who is able to effectively plan their daily workload and has good verbal and written communication skills. Our ideal candidate also has: Health and safety knowledge - we have regular site inspections checks Proven experience in a maintenance or grounds role Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills Experience with a wide range of tools (training provided) Experience of supervising contractors Knowledge of COSHH and the handling and storing of substances hazardous to health Experience of a wide range of power tools, ride on mowers, tractors and land management equipment A full driving licence Final note from us & good luck with your application We do try to give feedback where we can but sometimes, due to receiving high levels of applications, this may not always be possible.
