An opportunity has arisen for experienced clinicians to join the Transformation Directorate's Digital Clinical Informatics team. We are recruiting for a Senior Clinical Informatics Specialist within the NHS Pathways team.
NHS Pathways is an evidence-based suite of clinical content that supports Urgent & Emergency care within the NHS. It is used across NHS 111 and 999 Telephony, NHS 111 Online and in Urgent and Emergency Treatment centres. Our clinical team uses system data and clinical acumen to develop, and maintain, the questions, care advice and algorithms, continuously improving the product for use in Urgent and Emergency Care.
The system underpins the largest telephone triage system in the world and enables the triage of approximately 25 million calls annually.
The clinical content of the system is governed by the National Clinical Advisory Group, which has representation from all the major, relevant Royal Colleges, chaired by the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges.
Main duties of the job
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to undertake original authoring, development, review and maintenance of the clinical content of NHS Pathways.
* Providing highly specialist Urgent & Emergency Care Clinical Informatics advice and input into the development and maintenance of the NHS Pathways Clinical Decision Support System.
* Analysing and interpreting large data sets such as patient outcome data and system data, clinical evidence and research, national clinical guidance to inform development of the product.
* Engagement with stakeholders within NHS England such as Emergency Call Prioritisation Advisory Group, Clinical Coding Reference Group, National and externally with the National Clinical Assurance Group, Resus UK, Association of Medical Directors, Association of Ambulance Chief Executives and NHS 111 and 999 provider forums.
* Support the transformation programme of NHS Pathways
* Liaise with the systems development team to ensure that the system is clinically safe and provides accurate and timely information to clients, in line with NHS service requirements.
* Liaison with the wider clinical community in relation to both the clinical development of Pathways and the implementation of the Pathways system.
* Undertake on-call responsibilities as the first point of contact in an emergency.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Currently registered and regulated health or social care professional with significant evidence of continued professional development.
* You will be a UK registered clinician with proven credibility and the ability to command respect from clinical and non-clinical professionals.
Knowledge and Experience
* Current or varied experience working within Urgent and emergency Care and/or a telephone triage environment.
* Proven high-level experience of supporting delivery of complex change and strategy development programmes in a politically sensitive and complex environment.
Skills
* Demonstrable experience of clinical governance frameworks with a strategic understanding of clinical risk and clinical safety, applied through risk assessment and clinical safety methodology.
* Demonstrable people and professional leadership skills that empower, support, and develop teams to achieve high performance and enable team members to reach their full potential.
