Maths Instructor – SEMH School

Are you passionate about teaching Maths and skilled in managing challenging behaviors? We are looking for a dedicated Maths Instructor to join our SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Southend on sea, where you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging Maths lessons to students with SEMH needs, structuring the classroom to support individual learning and progress.
Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors, creating a positive and safe learning environment.
Provide 1:1 and small group support, tailoring lessons to meet the unique needs of each student.
Implement strategies to improve focus, engagement, and emotional regulation, helping students to overcome barriers to learning.
Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel supported both academically and emotionally.
Collaborate with other staff members and professionals to create a holistic approach to student development.
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working in a SEMH or SEN setting, with strong behavior management skills.
Be confident in delivering Maths to students at various academic levels, using creative and adaptable teaching methods.
Be able to manage a structured yet flexible classroom environment, accommodating individual learning needs.
Have a calm, patient, and resilient attitude, able to handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
Hold a relevant teaching qualification or significant experience in tutoring or instructing Maths.
