Your role is to work within the Testing team, predominately carrying out electrical inspection and testing activities to ensure the Company’s compliance with current regulations and statutory requirements throughout all of our regional sites. This includes initial site inspection at project commencement, followed by periodic testing at three monthly intervals thereafter. Follow internal reporting procedures, and in the unlikely event of substandard installations address this with your line manager and the relevant regional contracts manager. This is key to improving the Company’s installation quality and an important part of your activity. Upon inspection visits you are expected to carry out minor remedial works if these are necessary to satisfy the safe operation of the installation, particularly where these involve damage leading to exposed conductive parts, earthing and mains protective arrangements on site. Making safe and decommission building circuits or other alterations and provide appropriate isolation certificates. Also, on occasion assist the electrical team with installation as required. Diligence, attention to detail and departmental/client communication and liaison skills are required together with a high standard of electrical knowledge and workmanship. Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities of the role Operational Carry out both initial and periodic electrical inspections across various sites. Complete minor installation repairs in the course of the inspection visits, in particular in relation to earthing and mains protective arrangements. Assist with installation and emergency call outs if and when required. Perform safe isolation and issue certificate prior to disconnection and/or demolition works. Carry out fault finding. Address any safety concerns with your line manager immediately. Report common problems in order to carry out the necessary remedial action and implement procedures to prevent re-occurrence. Ensure that a sufficient level of contact is maintained between yourself and your line manager to enable thorough coordination of your activities. Look after the Company’s plant, materials, tools and equipment on site, reporting any deficiencies and losses immediately to your line manager. Ensure that works on site are always carried out safely at all times, actively seeking to minimise any health and safety risks. During site visits, determine if future works on site are required and relay details to your supervisor. Represent the company to the best of your ability at all times, liaising with our clients to help ensure that their requirements are met. Administration Accurately record site information and test results using relevant certificate type on electronic software to ensure that both the correct and sufficient information is available to enable the completion of the NIC/EIC Documentation. Ensure that all site reports, record vouchers and site instructions are completed and signed by site. Ensure that all paperwork is completed and forwarded to your line manager within the required deadlines.
