We are looking for a Finance Officer to manage housing benefit and service charge payments within our Newport Supported Accommodation Service. This is a full-time, permanent role with office hours from Monday to Friday.
It is essential that the successful candidate has a driver’s licence and access to a car to enable travel between services. Milage will be paid at 45p per mile.

Are you organised, detail-focused, and highly efficient? We’re seeking a committed Finance Officer to support our Supported Accommodation Service by managing housing benefits and maintaining service charges.
You’ll play a vital role in monitoring and managing rent accounts, helping individuals understand their responsibilities, and supporting them through any changes to their financial circumstances.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Manage the collection of rents, maintaining accurate records.
Work closely with our Pobl Rents and Service Charge team, providing updates, maintaining accurate records, and attending their team meetings
Support service users with their housing benefit applications and address changes in their financial circumstances.
Ensure clear and effective communication about financial responsibilities.
Liaise with external agencies, such as the Housing Benefits Team, to secure necessary support for service users.
Adhere to policies on confidentiality, equality, and health and safety.
What skills and experience do you need?
At least one year in a relevant role (essential), with previous experience
working with disadvantaged individuals (desirable)
Proficiency in IT, including strong knowledge of office software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work efficiently under pressure
A solid understanding of housing benefits is essential
A sensitive and practical approach to service users’ needs
Reliability, flexibility, and a non-discriminatory attitude

Salary: £25,995.00

Work Pattern: Office House, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm
Location/Base: Newport head Officer (Exchange House) and will be expected to visit and work out of the Supported Accommodation services around Newport
A Basic DBS is required for this role which we will pay for
